Criteria for Consideration of Nominations
Friends of Bedford Community School
Persons who have made outstanding contributions to Bedford Community School, generally over a long period of years. This could be through volunteer services or financial contributions. Nominees in this category need not be Bedford Community School graduates.
Induction in this category is limited to those who served as a Bedford Community School employee for a minimum of 10 years. BCSD Employee must be "retired" from their position before being considered for induction into the Hall of Fame in this category. Nominees in this category need not be Bedford Community School graduates.
Outstanding achievement by a particular team while representing Bedford Community School. Induction in this category could include, but is not limited to teams who earned a State Champion or State runner-up trophy in IHSAA or IGHSAU competition. A 10-year waiting period from the time the trophy was earned would be imposed before a team would be considered for induction to the Bedford Community School Hall of Fame in this category.
Outstanding individual achievement while representing Bedford Community School. Induction in this category could include, but is not limited to Individual State Champions in Cross Country, Wrestling, Track, and Golf, and/or recognition as First-team All State performers in team sports, or the equivalent in the fine arts. A 10-year waiting period after graduation would be imposed before an individual would be considered for induction to the Bedford Community School Hall of Fame in this category.
Induction in this category would include Bedford Community School graduates who have brought honor and recognition to the school and community through their achievements following graduation. All Bedford Community School graduates are eligible for induction in this category. Instead of accomplishments while attending Bedford Community School, nominees in this category could be considered for induction (but are not limited to) through intercollegiate accomplishments, lifetime achievements, and/or significant accomplishments to his/her community, state, or nation. A 10-year waiting period after graduation would be imposed before an individual would be considered for induction to the Bedford Community School Hall of Fame in this category.
Nominations can be made by any person or group and will be received at any time. Once a nomination is made that person (team/group) is forever nominated. For consideration to any given induction class, nominations must be received prior to the first meeting date for the Bedford Community School Hall of Fame selection committee. Nominees received after the initial meeting date for a given year, will not be considered until the following year.
Each year, the Hall of Fame selection committee meets to review past nominations and consider any new nominations made since the last induction class. At a subsequent meeting (or meetings), the committee then closely scrutinizes and discusses the "finalists". After discussion, using a voting procedure designated by the Athletic Director (or other voting procedure adopted by the majority of committee members present) a maximum of 4 nominees become the Induction Class for that year. At the discretion of the selection committee the charter member class may exceed the annual maximum of 4.
InductionNames of Hall of Fame Inductees are ordinarily released to the public following notification to the inductees and their families. Induction will take place at a selected extra-curricular event or events. Actual event(s) will vary from year to year due to schedule.
This Constitution may be amended by a 2/3 vote of Committee membership at two successive meetings of the Selection Committee. One of the meetings must be the annual organizational meeting.
